Overview
Monroe Gas Storage Company, LLC (MGS) has commenced service to a new natural gas storage facility in northeastern Mississippi near the city of Amory. The facility provides firm and interruptible natural gas storage services and interconnects with two major pipelines (Texas Eastern Transmission Company -- TETCO and Tennessee Gas Pipeline --TGP). The storage field serves the expanding energy needs of Mississippi and other areas of the Southeast, as well as the Mid-Continent and Northeastern United States. The facility was constructed with the highest standards of safety and environmental concern, and when fully operational, is anticipated to have an estimated working gas capacity of 11.67 Bcf, utilizing 3-turn service.
-
The construction of the facility includes development of the storage reservoir, seventeen injection/withdrawal wells, construction of approximately 2.0 miles of gathering lines and installation of compression and processing facilities. Construction of the 5.7-mile pipeline interconnecting to the TETCO pipeline in Monroe County, Mississippi, and the construction of the 17.2-mile pipeline interconnecting to the TGP pipeline in Lamar County, Alabama has been completed.
